Born in 1986 in Timisoara (Romania), Suzana Bartal begins to study the piano at the age of 8. Her first teachers are Flora Toth and Felicia Stancovici at the National Art High School in her hometown. In July 2005 she graduates with the highest grades (10/10). In 2005 she moves to France and continues her studies in Paris and Lyon at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique with Denis Pascal, Pierre Pontier and Florent Boffard. She received her masters degree in 2011. Suzana is also the holder of scholarships awarded by the Fondation Nadia et Lili Boulanger for  2008/2009 and by Mécénat Société Générale in 2009 and 2010.

In March 2011 Suzana was admitted at Yale University to pursue her piano studies in the class of the well-known pianist Peter Frankl. Recently, she has been selected to play in masterclasses with Menahem Pressler and Andras Schiff, both extremely inspiring experiences.

Also in 2011 Suzana was awarded a scholarship by the ADAMI (French organisation defending the copyright of artists) and she was a finalist of the international piano competition in Campillos (Spain).

Suzana has taken part in many masterclasses with distinguished pianists : Tamas Vasary, Aldo Ciccolini, Klaus Hellwig, Jacques Rouvier, David Lively, Anne Quéffelec, Dimitri Alexeev, Günter Reinhold, Jean-François Antonioli, Laszlo Baranyay, Jean-Francois Heisser, Géry Moutier, Georges Pludermacher, Bruno Rigutto. She has also perfected her skills with Jean-Claude Pennetier at the Académie Ravel in Saint-Jean de Luz (2007) and with Matti Raekallio at the International Holland Music Sessions (2009 and 2010).

From the age of 11, Suzana has won many national and international competitions : national C.Czerny competition, international Remember Enesco competition (Bucharest), Seiler competition (Germany), EPTA competition (Croatia),  M.Cheilan competition Hyères (France). More recently she gained the 1st prize (unanimously awarded) at the Lagny sur Marne competition (January 2006), the 1st prize and the Fauré prize at the international d’Ile de France competition (May 2006), the 3rd prize at the « FLAME » competition in Paris and the 1st Medal at the « Cécile Edel-Latos » competition (March 2007).

In October 2007 she has obtained the 2nd prize (1st prize not awarded) and the Debussy prize at the international Le Muse competition in Agropoli (Italy). As a part of this success she was invited to perform as a soloist with the Kysucka orchestra (Slovakia) on its tour in Italy. In June 2009 she was awarded the prize of the city of Collioure at the international Alain Marinaro competition.

She has performed solo and chamber music recitals in several cities in Romania (Timisoara, Lugoj, Sannicolau Mare, Oradea, Targu-Mures, Satu Mare, Bucharest), and also across Europe : Germany, Italy, Holland, Hungary and several locations in France. She made her orchestra debut at the age of 13 and performed Mozart and Grieg concertos with the Timisoara Philharmonic Orchestra.

Her performance was broadcasted by the national radio and television channels in Romania and Hungary and by France Musique. 

Winner of the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe scholarship in January 2008, Suzana was invited to play a solo recital at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Olivier Messiaen in December 2008. She also performed for Radio France in the « Géneration jeunes interprètes » series in January 2010.
